2023 STA ANNUAL CONFERENCE & INNOVATION AWARDS: PROCEEDINGS AVAILABLE

On 26 October 2023, the 8th edition of the conference, entitled “Introducing Taxonomy in Transportation Infrastructures” took place in Milan, Italy.

The conference was focused on the application of EU taxonomy & best practices leading to the adoption of environmentally sustainable practices for transportation infrastructures.

More than 50 participants joined the conference & had the opportunity to visit two test grounds and see two real industry demonstrators on-site. Test house and certification body CSI S.p.A. and the road safety division of Gonvarri Industries, Road Steel Engineering presented a crash test of a reduced carbon footprint road restraint system (RRS) of recycled materials at the CSI S.p.A. Headquarters. Afterwards, the participants had the unique chance to visit and have a tour around the cutting-edge road section with an integrated inductive vehicle charging at the A35 Arena del Futuro circuit by Aleatica.

The 2023 STA Innovation Awards honoured Dr Mario Aymerich, Former Director for Environment and Regional Development, Projects Directorate at the European Investment Bank (EIB) with the Person of the Year award for his remarkable contributions to large-scale infrastructure projects in the transport, urban, and regional development sectors and his involvement to PPT operations & Technical Risk Analysis. The Best Innovation Solution award was given to ANAS (Italy) for the design of a concrete road safety barrier National Dynamic Barrier Anas (NDBA), invented by Eng. Nicola Dinnela.The award was received by Mr Simone Polito, Engineer at ANAS( Italy).
