2026 STA ANNUAL INNOVATION AWARDS: HONOURING MS ELISSAVET VOZEMBERG-VRIONIDI AND FLASH-LED BY A35 BREBEMI-ALEATICA
STA is proud to announce the recipients of the 2026 STA Innovation Awards, which will be presented during the 11th STA Annual Conference & Innovation Awards, taking place online on 26 November 2026, from 09:30 – 11:30 CET.
Person of the Year: Ms Elissavet Vozemberg-Vrionidi
This year, we are honoured to present the Person of the Year Award to Ms Elissavet Vozemberg-Vrionidi, Chair of the European Parliament's Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN).
Born in Athens, Ms Vozemberg-Vrionidi holds a degree in Law and Political Science from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. A distinguished lawyer since 1982, with a special focus on criminal and family law, she has participated in major trials. She was elected Councillor of the Athens Bar Association for 15 consecutive years and served on the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE).
As Chair of the TRAN Committee, she plays an important role in overseeing EU transport policy and legislation, including the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), as the EU prepares to enter a new 2028-2034 investment period. Her priorities for the sector rest on three pillars: enhancing sustainability, promoting digital innovation, and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Best Innovation Solution: FLASH-LED by A35 Brebemi-Aleatica
The Best Innovation Solution Award goes to FLASH-LED (First Line Accident Signal with High Intensity LED), an innovative solution developed by A35 Brebemi-Aleatica in cooperation with All.V.iN Srl.
FLASH-LED warns road users of hazards on a road section by enabling remote deployment of warning systems, significantly improving operator safety. The solution consists of four electric movable elements equipped with high-visibility LEDs, remotely controlled by an operator and arranged in an easily transportable container. The system can also report hazards to road users through platforms such as Google and Waze, helping to provide timely information and improve road safety.
Following the awards online ceremony, short keynote speeches will be delivered by the recipients of the awards, offering participants the opportunity to connect with the awardees.
